Basic Form (or design)
1. Make sure you think about all of your page or canvas. If you make an image don't forget about the area around it. This will give your art more of an impact. Fill up the whole thing with interesting things or shapes.

2. Consider having an area where your eyes go to first. You can do this with:
-high contrast between colors (black and white)
-the brightest color on your page
-the busiest area of shapes and lines
Usually you want this area on one side of your art to give it a sence of motion and excitement.
3. Make your shapes clear and your lines strong. Don't be shy or afraid to make a mistake.
Famous painting have layers and layers of paint. Because the artist would repaint parts of it over and over constantly questioning. Dont be afraid to experiment and draw over things. A bunch of eraced pencil marks sometimes looks cool. And of course it doesn't have to be realistic or even look like anything. Abstract is cool! :)
4. Simple Color Schemes
-Only use one color with different shades and intensities and black white and grays.
-Use similar colors. Only 3-4 steps on the color wheel. For example: yellow, orange, orange yellow or green, blue-green, blue.... With different shades and intesities of the colors and black, white and grays
-2 Colors on opposite sides of the color wheel. For example: red, green or blue, orange or violet, yellow... With (you know the rest :)
-use no color at all.
There are many other color schemes though. But consider using the same color in many areas of your painting in different shades and intesities to give your art unity.
5. That is all i can think of for now. Check back later. And let me know if you have something.
(I would like to thank my teachers at ARC for this information. My basic design teacher Craig Smith and my drawing teacher Cheselyn Amato. There not my original ideas but we don't have books for the classes so i can't do the not
